Author Liz Weir visits Grange
The boys and girls in P5, P6 and P7 had a fantastic morning with author Liz Weir when she visited for a storytelling workshop. The children were captivated as Liz told a range of stories, including the Legend of Setanta, a story about a bridge in Pontoon, Co. Mayo that nobody dares to cross and a story about Fairies and Changelings. Liz's stories had an important message too - she explained her role in creating some anti-bullying adverts and telling a story - 'Feathers' - which explains the implications of bullying for the bully and for others. The children found out lots of interesting facts about Liz, including the other famous authors she knows, why she became an author and what inspired her to write her first story. In the workshop the children learned the difference between open and closed questions and how to use open questions to gather more information.
