Bending a chicken bone! (part 2)

Here we can see the results of our chicken bone experiment!
The children were amazed when they removed the bones from the vinegar and found that they could bend very easily.
Why did this happen?
Primary 2 & 3 now know the answer to this question.
The vinegar dissolved the calcium in the bones. The calcium is what makes the bones strong and hard, and without it, the bones become soft and bendable.
The boys and girls now understand why it is so important for them to get enough calcium in their diets.
