Primary 5/6 have been learning all about the famine and the journey lots of people made from Ireland to America. Through reading our novel, 'Wildflower Girl' the children experienced how bad the ship conditions were and how the quality of food went downhill very fast. We decided to carry out an experiment to investigate how germs / dirt affect our food and what it might have been like to take food with you on the famine ships. The boys and girls had a lot of fun with this one! We will keep you updated with our 'Observation Logs' from the children.
