On Wednesday 2nd March Glen and Ciara from the Lough Neagh Discovery Centre visited Primary 2 and 3 to talk about minibeasts and to help the children create a minibeast hotel.
Before Glen came he asked the children to bring in lots of materials such as pallets, bricks, carpet, straw, plastic bottles and twigs.
Jack Roger's daddy and uncle provided the pallets and bricks.
Darragh Kerr's daddy provided the carpet.
Granda Small provided the straw.
The whole school provided the plastic bottles.
Primary 2 and 3 thank everyone for their kindness!
The children began by making a hibernaculum (this is the place where minibeasts like to hibernate). When the hibernacula's were finished the children took turns to put them and lots of other bits and pieces into the pallets that had been stacked in the chapel grounds. The hotel looks fantastic!
The children can't wait to see which minibeasts move in to make the hotel their home.
