P5/6 Online Art Lesson with Sinéad McDermott
Primary 5/6 had the wonderful opportunity to participate in an online art lesson in celebration of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week. This engaging session was led by Sinéad McDermott, a talented local artist and art teacher.
The focus of the lesson was on the renowned French artist, Henri Matisse, celebrated for his vibrant use of color. Under Sinéad's expert guidance, students received step-by-step instructions to create their unique still life masterpieces. They experimented with watercolour paints and oil pastels, bringing their artistic visions to life.
Throughout the lesson, the class was deeply engaged, learning not only about art techniques but also about personal growth, mindset, and maintaining a positive attitude. This creative experience helped each child to relax and produce their best work, highlighting the importance of mental well-being through art.
We are proud of our students for their enthusiasm and creativity, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Sinéad for her inspiring lesson. We look forward to working with Sinéad again in the near future with our Shared Education Project!
