Visit of GAA President
We were honoured to welcome the GAA President to Grange Primary School today.
Mr John Horan was accompanied by Mr Sean Rooney, Chair of Down County Board, Mr John Rooney, of John West (Sponsor), Mr Diarmuid Cahill, Chair of Feile committee and other special guests.
Mr Horan was met at the gate by Head girl and boy, Maria and Aaron, who welcomed him to our school. He shook hands with each individual child in the guard of honour as he made his way to the back playground where girls were practising camogie skills with Mrs McAlinden and boys were practising football skills with Mr O'Rourke.
Everyone then came into the school hall to be entertained by the school choir, Irish dancers and the tin whistle group. Mr Horan spoke to the children about his role and they asked several great questions. Mr Rogers, Chair of our Board of Governors, expressed thanks to everyone and Maria presented a token of our appreciation to Mr Horan.
We are so proud of all our girls and boys for the lovely manner in which they welcomed the special visitors to our school. They looked wonderful in their beautiful uniforms and they participated in the special assembly by sharing their talents, asking thoughtful questions and using their good listening skills.
This was a momentous occasion for our entire school community and one which none of us will ever forget.
