The boys and girls in P6/7 were very busy during May working with Co. Down author Sheena Wilkinson. Through a series of Zoom workshops, the children learned all about the writing process. They had opportunities to engage in free writing and look at character, plot and setting. As the project focus was ‘Our Place’, the children decided to include aspects of local history in their writing. After carrying out a lot of research, the boys and girls chose to link their stories in some way to the SS. Connemara and SS. Retriever shipping disaster of 1916. They really enjoyed this project, which was made possible by Friends of Grange. Perhaps in years to come we will have more Co. Down authors!
